Children in Change Support Group

YES! Sign my child up!

Change can be scary.

The decisions in family change are not made by children. Therefore, children and youth often feel powerless in the face of overwhelming changes in their lives and they often have few skills for coping with these changes.

This group will offer support for children who have experienced significant changes in their families. Group members will be encouraged to share openly about their changes and feelings, while developing an understanding that they are not to blame for adult situations.

This group will guide children to cope in healthy ways while both acknowledging and teaching about feelings of grief and loss.

WHEN: Wednesdays at 5:00pm and begins on March 17th!

Connect with like-minded individuals experiencing similar feelings.

Openly share changes and feelings!

Learn coping mechanisms and strategies to be able to communicate feelings with peers.

This group will be facilitated by Whitney Taylor

Whitney can often be found outside with her two dogs, trying new fitness classes, or taking spontaneous trips to new places with her husband. In fact, she even decided to cancel her traditional wedding plans to elope with her husband in Northern California after taking a week to drive the Pacific Coast Highway. She has a passion for cooking whole, organic foods and can often be found listening to a podcast about nutrition and the gut brain axis.

Whitney has called many places home. After being born and raised in a small town in central New Hampshire, Whitney moved to Florida to attend Eckerd College and play Division II softball. She completed her undergraduate degree in Literature along with a minor in Child Psychology. She makes the claim that Eckerd is the greatest place on Earth. After graduating from undergrad in 2014, Whitney worked as an elementary school teacher for three years before deciding to make the change to middle school and teaching 8th grade ELA. Your child will learn new coping mechanisms and improve communication skills.
